Could Legal Aid help with the cost of mediation?

If you are on a low income or receive certain benefits, Legal Aid may cover your MIAM and mediation sessions.

  • If one person qualifies, the other person’s MIAM and first joint mediation session are usually covered too.
  • In eligible child-related cases, the Family Mediation Voucher Scheme may contribute up to £500 towards mediation sessions.
  • Eligibility for both Legal Aid and the voucher scheme is subject to assessment.

UK Family Mediation is a private mediation provider. Our FMC-accredited mediators can sign the relevant court form where the MIAM requirement has been addressed and mediation does not proceed.

Start with a confidential MIAM

Whether you are exploring mediation for children, finances, or both, the first step is a private MIAM. We will help you understand your options clearly and move forward with confidence.
